Shut down your fear of failure. The fear you don’t conquer today will conquer your destiny tomorrow.
FEEL AT HOME WITH FAILURE / FEEL FREE TO FAIL
As a pastor, I have never seen any man of God mount the pulpit and declare prophetically:
“YOU MUST FAIL IN JESUS’ NAME!”
“YOU NEED TO FAIL IN JESUS’ NAME!”
No! We prophesy success, victory, and open doors. But the truth is this: many believers secretly treat failure like a deadly curse instead of a life teacher.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SCARED OF FAILURE?
Here are five common reasons:
- Fear of mockery – “What will people say about me?”
- Fear of rejection – Nobody likes to hear “No.”
- Fear of the unknown – The future looks dark, so they avoid the step.
- Fear of pain and loss – People hate losing more than they love winning.
- Fear of repetition – One bad experience convinces them it will always end badly.
But listen carefully: if you never attempt, you will never attain.
FAILURE IS NOT YOUR ENEMY
I have succeeded in many things not because I was always right, but because I learned to feel at home with failure.
I dared. I tried. I failed. I learned. I rose. I won.
Let me shock you: failure itself is not your enemy, fear of failure is.
A BIBLICAL EXAMPLE: THE FOUR LEPERS
Look at the four lepers outside Samaria’s gate (2 Kings 7: 3–4). They were broken, abandoned, and rejected by family, society, and religion. Yet, at the lowest point of their lives, they said to themselves:
“Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.”
That night, their boldness shifted history. They entered the enemy’s camp and returned with gold, silver, and food. Men called failures became overnight billionaires.
FAILURE TOUCHES EVERY AREA OF LIFE
If you don’t master failure, you will remain small.
- Spiritually: If you fear making mistakes in prayer, you will never grow in faith.
- Family: If you fear trying again after disappointments, your marriage or parenting will remain cold.
- Career: If you fear applying for jobs or promotions, you’ll remain stagnant.
- Business: If you fear investment risks, you’ll never multiply wealth.
- Academics: If you fear exams and research setbacks, you’ll never break records.
- Health: If you fear medical checks or treatments, sickness will imprison you.
- Leadership: If you fear criticism, you will never make bold decisions.
- Finances: If you fear stepping out of debt cycles, you will stay broke.
- Relationships: If you fear heartbreak, you will never love again.
- Nation-building: If leaders fear reforms, nations will remain underdeveloped.
Shut down your fear of failure. The fear you don’t conquer today will conquer your destiny tomorrow.
- If you fail, learn from it.
- If you fall, rise again.
- If you lose, grow stronger.
Failure is not final, it is a fertilizer for your future.
Dare like the lepers. Face life boldly. Because what looks like failure today may be your doorway to fortune tomorrow.
